"Prince Flo, King Django & The Deadlock Doctor" by Bluekilla – laut.de – Song. Okay, yes, I was looking for ideas about problems with deadlocks and Django, and well, the title of this song sounds like it could become the theme song for my problem, but unfortunately, the Deadlock Doctor doesn't have any useful ideas either.

John Lee Hooker Jr. in the Hot Jazz Club

Pictures from the concert tonight. It was an absolutely fantastic concert, the place was packed and the atmosphere was great. The musicians put on an impressive show. And as it happened, we had a table right in front of the stage, there was nothing between us and the musicians. Accordingly, the pictures turned out that way.

SuperCollider » About. This is what is used as a basis under the previous project. SuperCollider has its own programming language, so it can also be used for live coding and similar purposes.

Home // Overtone. I'm always excited about sound makers - this is a tool for interactive sound programming and live coding and instrument building (of course digital), and all of it written in Clojure. Maybe for one or the other a reason to take a closer look at Clojure.

Charity Concert for East Africa Hunger Relief

Today there was a concert by Millima Mabonde (Gospel choir from Nordwalde and Altenberge) and the brass group St. Sebastian from Nienberge. Since my sister sings in the Gospel choir, we were there again. It was a very beautiful concert, lots of fun.

Blues Jam at Bunten Vogel

This is what it looks like when Alexander Goerschel and Tim Abenath play at Bunten Vogel on Tuesday evening (with Bernd KlĂĽmper on bass and Andre Werkmeister on drums). Always nice, the evening, good blues and often interesting experiments when those who have never played together before play together again (or Gregor Hilden is there and plays a song that the others have never heard before). It's fun to listen to!

Summer Concert Millima Mabonde

Since my sister sings in the gospel choir Millima Mabonde in Nordwalde (and Altenberge), Juliana and I attended the summer concert. The guest choir was Rainbow Glory from Nottuln. Juliana was enthusiastic, even though she naturally couldn't understand the lyrics (she never learned English).

Black Stone Raiders

Already on Friday evening - but only uploaded today. We were at the concert of the Black Stone Raiders with Jean-Paul Bourelly on guitar, Darryl Jones (the bassist of the Rolling Stones) and Will Calhoun on drums. Quite a wild story, the picture is already typical for Bourelly, who really shouts around during the concert. Very loud, very strange in parts. Reminded me often of Jimmi Hendrix (Bourelly is also said to be like that). It was interesting, but I don't think that's my kind of music.

Green Space Maintenance

In MĂĽnster, there was once again entertainment in the green spaces (actually already the second weekend this year), the first time for Juliana. We had fun again, my personal favorite was Ruben Grimm, really great music and brilliantly performed. I also made a small video of Ruben Grimm.

After Church Club

Finally managed to make it to the Hot Jazz Club on a Sunday again. Tom's introduction: "Today with me, so there will be blues. And only blues. You can't defend yourself against it."

CBSC Decision | CHOZ-FM re the song “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits. Hmm. Okay, they noticed quite early that this song shouldn't be played in Canada. If I think about it, with proper implementation of these guidelines in Canada, probably only Country and Western would remain acceptable...

Whack’em - if you get the chance to hear them: do it! That's super-groovy sound.

aM laboratory - lovely. Totally pointless and wonderfully wasteful of time.

La Bamba

We had a great time in St. Petersburg listening to the two of them, so here's one of their songs. And at the same time, this was my premiere using the GF1 to record a video - and don't complain about the shakiness, I didn't have a tripod with me and I was more focused on the sound anyway. But making HD videos with a camera, that's something else ...

Joe Strummer darf alles (1999) | Spreeblick - is like that. Joe Strummer can do anything.

Tom Waits - Free Glitter and Doom Live Album Preview - ok, you have to enter a valid email address to download the songs, but hey, it's Tom Waits!

The Twins and the Blechgang - no, I'm not afraid of anything. They are just from here!

Coryell Auger Sample Trio - heard today at the Hot Jazz Club. Woah. Groovy. Super-groovy.

billy's band-ICM - because I just stumbled upon it and you can never have enough Billy's Band. Click, listen, and be happy.

Mal Sondock has passed away - this brings back memories. Wednesday evenings.

HATTLER - because I just heard him at the harbor festival. Brilliant sound. Definitely worth it, absolutely the main act of this year's harbor festival.

Jörg Schieb - iTunes verzichtet auf Kopierschutz - and hopefully buries the DRM nonsense in the industry. With two major portals - iTunes and Amazon - without DRM, the topic should hopefully be settled. But that Apple, as usual, immediately torches the iTunes servers and cuts off the purchase option, suddenly no longer offered, is quite ridiculous. Don't they expect their users to actually want to use these update offers?

Breakthrough for CC music - in Denmark. The century in which GEMA will follow suit is not yet known.

Strasheela - hmm, that would finally be a chance to take a closer look at Mozart and Oz, a software for algorithmic music composition (and no, I have no idea about composition - I just like everything that algorithmically generates something else that either looks good or sounds good ...)

David Byrne's Survival Strategies for Emerging Artists — and Megastars - a very interesting article by one of my favorite musicians, the former lead singer of the Talking Heads. Worth reading because he not only lists all the contract models that currently exist, but also names specific musicians and breaks them down with examples and calculations.

British music industry attacks government - "... artists are having their works taken and record companies are being robbed of their investments ...". Please what? Can it get any worse? Artists are not being robbed of anything - this is simply a fact of the law, which after a certain period of time, causes copyrights to expire. This only concerns specific recordings, not e.g. song lyrics (which are protected for a longer period). The idea that it is the task of the law to guarantee an industry its sources of income is quite absurd. In other places, the same people would be outraged about state subsidies, but here it is loudly demanded. I mean, let's speak plainly: these recordings have been profitable for 50 years, secured by copyright.

Jamendo : Fabrice Collette - good French blues. Under CC license. I really should have learned French instead of Latin in school ...

Warner raises the stakes in EMI offer - Kids, don't mess up the DRM-free music with this nonsense.

Amazon kĂĽndigt DRM-freie MP3-Downloads an - nice deal for EMI. I think it's about time for the other major labels to stop with the DRM nonsense if they want to keep up. Two huge shop platforms for EMI and good press, that can quickly make the number 3 the number 2 or even better, if download numbers are the primary sales share.

impromptu - a Scheme environment explicitly for using AudioUnits. Computer-generated music, with the help of heaps of parentheses.

major labels: the problem with music - how major labels screw over musicians.

EMI Music launches DRM-free superior sound quality downloads across its entire digital repertoire - the beginning of the end of DRM in music? Sometimes it's enough for one to take the lead, forcing others to follow. I wouldn't mind that.

Industry wants to expose pirates - oh yes, once again the evil pirates are to blame for the decline of the music industry, not the terrible management and even worse music. The music industry doesn't make much money from me either - I prefer to get my music from Magnatune or Jamendo. It's much more exciting than the bland fare from the big corporations ...

King Mojo - Blues. 4 CDs. For download. Groovy.

Music industry: Government wants to turn copyright into a "toothless tiger" - the stupid wailing of the music industry - especially their stupid babble that they represent the interests of the artists, these lying crooks - really gets on my nerves. And has led to the fact that I now only shrug at the possible closure of iTMS (as possibly upcoming in Norway). Thanks to Jamendo.com, Magnatune.com, Garageband.com and other netlabels ...

Magnatune: free MP3 music and music licensing - one of the sites where I now get my music. Very nice licensing terms (for example, you can share download links with three friends for them to download, prices are freely selectable within a fairly wide range, there are different licensing models for various purposes, including a CC license for free use).

cutmp3 - a nice little MP3 editor for the console - ideal for quickly cutting pauses out of songs and similar tasks on a streaming server.

john sore & his afro-safety - funky macho gangsta blues.

Musicovery : interactive webRadio - cool stuff, that.

Stop Motion Piano And Drums - crazy. I love it!

Jamendo : Mach die Ohren auf - another CC music portal. Looks quite nice, a bit hypy, but hyping might be important for CC music right now.

Concrete and Clay - nice music blog with CC music

doctor paradox: the metaphysician. - electronic, funky, funny.

HotBitchArsenal - cool and relaxed.

Paulo Sacramento - creative commons soundtracks and photos - what you see is what you get. And it's good, in a Herbie Hancock style of good.

immaterial music - a label run by the musicians. Music under CC license.

PubSigs - another band under CC license - they deliver their music as a podcast for iTunes right away.

Shearer - kick ass rock. Under CC license.
