OS 2008 Hacker Edition - Nokia ist ja im Moment böse, aber trotzdem sei vermeldet, das deren OS 2008 (eigentlich für das N810 geschrieben) jetzt auch in einer Hacker-Edition für das alte 770 verfügbar ist. Da man mit 2008 einen Mozilla-basierten Browser bekommt, durchaus überlegenswert. Der rendert einfach besser als der Opera.

Nokia veröffentlicht Browser für Maemo - nett. Der Opera auf den Geräten ist zwar nicht schlecht, aber ein Mozilla läuft dann doch etwas runder, denn der Opera ist von der älteren Sorte.

Nokia Skypes its N800 Linux tablet - hmm. Skype. Dann muss ich wohl doch mal upgraden. Ist nicht so fürchterlich aufwändig, aber die nötige Nachinstallation eigener Software ist doch eher ärgerlich. Schön wäre, wenn man auch das Basis-System über die normalen Paket-Mechanismen upgraden könnte.

 - ooops. Nokia hat andere Chips im N800 benutzt, die den Bildschirm-Update drastisch verlangsamen (1/3 der Geschwindigkeit des N770).

Mono on Nokia 770/800 - gut. Damit bestehen Chancen die libSL Geschichten (z.B. Sleek?) auf dem Nokia zum Fliegen zu kriegen. Und damit gibts Chancen für einen minimalen SL Client auf dem Tablett! (ganz abgesehen von der Vielzahl interessanter Programmiersprachen die jetzt auch für das Nokia verfügbar werden)

M is for monkey - Mono auf Maemo. Das wäre spannend - denn mit den Bestrebungen auch die Mono GUI Klassen auf Linux zu unterstützen und der Verbindung mit libSL könnte man so eventuell Sleek (Text-Mode SL client) auch zum Laufen bekommen. Und hätte daher eine mobile Chat-Lösung für SL.

Jau, es ist da. Sehr nettes Teil - seit Dienstag hab ich es. Macht wirklich Spaß - die Integration von Bluetooth und WLAN ist ziemlich klasse gelöst, das Gerät kann mit jedem WLAN Kontakt aufnehmen. Sogar WPA und WPA2 - beides auch mit Zertifikat - funktioniert. Beim Pairing mit Bluetooth-Handys ...
